Dr. Thomas is truly one of the best clinical and theory instructors at Louisiana State University School of Nursing. She manages to create an open learning environment in both the classroom and the hospital. She never discourages a student for asking a question or for not understanding something the first time. Instead, she encourages all of her students to be confident in their nursing capabilities. While in clinical, she always encouraged our group to learn new tasks, such as learning how to complete an IV Push or how to put in an IV for the first time. During the task, she always used words of encouragement that lessened our anxiety, therefore creating a better learning environment overall. She is organized, kind, respectful, and an amazing teacher that I am thankful to have had.

Dr. Thomas has made a tremendous impact on my experience as an LSU Nursing student. She is not only passionate about the nursing profession but her joyful spirit is one that always listens to her students and encourages them no matter what. During clinical, Dr. Thomas would affirm students throughout the day and push us to try new things. She instilled confidence in me when I needed it the most and looking up to her as a role model has made me strive for consistent compassion, honesty, and innovation. Dr. Thomas is the most personable faculty member I have met at LSU simply because no matter how busy she is, she makes time for students and does whatever it takes to answer those questions asked. Thinking about the type of nurse, instructor, and mentor Dr. Thomas makes me overjoyed to become a nurse and proud of the nursing profession.

Dr. Thomas was my clinical instructor for adult. She went above and beyond to help me grow as a nurse. She provided opportunities to enhance the learning experience. She showed respect towards me even though I'm a student. It's been a year since I have had her as a teacher and she still acknowledges me by name when she sees me. She is very deserving of this award.

Dr. Thomas is truly an outstanding educator. She goes above and beyond to help her students be successful in every way possible. Every meeting I have had with her has been nothing but positive, and she encourages me in every aspect. She has taken the time to sit down with me and address areas of improvement in her course, and my grades have been reflecting that time spent with her. She is also just an extremely kind person, and I can think of no one better deserving than her.

Dr. Thomas was my clinical instructor for Adult Health. During this period, she went above and beyond to meet the concerns and needs of her group, myself included. She made sure at the beginning of each day that we were comfortable in providing care to our patients, and expected the best from us. At the end of the day, Dr. Thomas would check in with us and not only tell us areas of improvement, but also what she thought that we did really well, and that made a difference to me. I was very grateful to have her as my instructor. Dr. Thomas is an extraordinary leader, and she is deserving of this award.
