Words students used to describe Rose McPartland are: Mutual respect, compassionate, Kind, and understanding—she embodies what she teaches. She was there for me during a difficult time. She is amazing at easing everyone’s fears and helping us feel comfortable. Her voice and demeanor emanate compassion and caring. She is honest and willing to share the reality of nursing and emphasizes the need for self-care. Rose gave of herself, sharing her knowledge of nursing, freely and intimately. She is a true asset to the nursing profession.
Rose has an amazing gift: she is able to articulate meanings of new concepts to us in a way we truly can appreciate and fully understand. This semester has been a learning curve traveled not so smoothly for some and Rose has been there along the way with patience and understanding.
Rose is an absolute gem! She is commanding but warm, heartfelt but funny, capable but adorably incapable at times. From the very beginning of class, she made me feel special and heard. She seems to know exactly what to say when I need my spirits lifted. I have learned so much about what makes a nurse a great nurse from her.
Rose is kind, compassionate and genuinely cares about all her students. I was a re-sequencing student and having mixed feelings about it. As I stepped off the elevator there was Rose sitting at the desk with her warm smile, she looked me in my eyes and said, "Welcome back, it’s so nice to see you." It was genuine and I felt it, from that moment, I knew this is where I was meant to be. I was also fortunate to have Rose as a clinical instructor, she leads by example. I learned true empathy watching her interact with patients at clinicals. Rose helps everyone, gives positive feedback, and never makes you feel less than.
