Our recipient for the DAISY Faculty Award has been one of those influential teachers that you love from day one.  Many of our class members remember sitting down in our first day of second semester not knowing what to expect.  This teacher had a passion and sincere care for all of us from the moment we met her and has continued to show that to this day.  When our class was asked to nominate a faculty member for this award, there were so many stories that were told about how this teacher had helped a student through a trying time or how she had taken the time to reassure a student that was worried they wouldn 't make it.  You always knew no matter what, she would stop everything to talk to you and help in any way she could.  She has the gift of extreme patience and calmness.  Never once did we see her get upset or anxious about any situation we put her through in clinical.  She is an amazing teacher and has been one of the key faculty that has given us such a strong foundation of knowledge.  We feel that she meets all the criteria and more of what the DAISY Faculty Award represents.  She has gone above and beyond the calling of being a teacher, and has become a mentor and friend to so many.  We hope as we go out into the world now as new nurses we can take away many valuable lessons she has shared with us.  The Mississippi College School of Nursing graduating class of fall 2017 wants to extend, with much love, the DAISY Faculty Award to Jeanne Bernier.
