Anne Jacobs brings decades of nursing and educational experience to her role as an Associate Professor here at Pomeroy College of Nursing at Crouse Hospital. Anne spearheaded the efforts to write the PCON ACEN self-study document. She spent countless hours (weekends and late nights) making sure all committees were responsible and accountable for the work in the self -study. It was Anne's "voice" that took everyone's unique writing style and created a cohesive document to showcase the work of the College. That work was the guiding force in our successful ACEN visit in March 2019. Anne is asked routinely to help her fellow faculty members. She receives countless phone calls and drop in visits from her peers every day. Whether someone is learning the technology in the classroom, needs support giving a lecture, or reviewing exam outcomes, Anne always helps -she would not turn a colleague in need away. Anne's focus is to make her colleagues feel good about the work that is done and to feel competent and confident. She simply does not realize the role she plays in getting each of us "there" mentally and emotionally. She is always patient, always willing to explain -again & again, mentor and mentor some more. And truly never wants anything in return other than for the faculty member to be empowered to do excellent work. Anne has all the attributes of an excellent nurse.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Serves as a role model of professional nursing
- Demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and nursing that inspires and motivates students
- Develops collaborative working relationships with students and colleagues
- Demonstrates interest in and respect for learners
- Is fair and unbiased in his/her treatment of individual students.
- Uses personal attributes such as caring, confidence, patience, integrity and flexibility to facilitate learning.
Anne is retiring as this semester comes to a close. She will be greatly missed by her peers, leadership and the student body.
