This student went above and beyond on many occasions. One most recently is a patient who was on chemo and just starting to lose her hair in clumps. The patient was very upset and she recognized the emotional stress this was causing and took it upon herself to get hair clippers and help the patient shave her head. She also went home that night and crocheted her a special hat. This student also made homemade signs of encouragement for her patients and would post them in her patient rooms. The amount of compassion she shows for her patients and families is amazing and she should be an example for all healthcare providers.
This student made 70 crocheted baby hats and donated them to the children's hospital - for no recognition or purpose other than she wanted to do it. She is a kind and thoughtful student, smoothly navigating the challenges of nursing school while balancing many outside stressors that would cause other less fortuitous students to consider withdrawing from such a demanding program.
