Maria was at the student's side throughout the entire situation providing support and empowerment to the student.

This nurse educator exemplifies the kind of faculty member that students, colleagues, staff and administrators recognize as an exemplary educator and an outstanding role model.

The following scenario is an example of excellence in nursing education:

Maria is committed to assisting her students learn by providing several means of teaching both in the classroom and clinical setting. During her ADH I clinical rotation for Term D, she engaged students in post-conference with a game to assist them with applying critical thinking skills. She also supports their initiative to challenge the nursing staff when improper care is being provided. For example, a student was instructed by the nurse to administer long-acting insulin to a patient with a blood glucose level of 70. The student recognized this may not be an appropriate intervention, therefore, the student spoke with the pharmacist who verbally questioned the nurse. Maria was at the student's side throughout the entire situation providing support and empowerment to the student. These are just examples of Maria’s excellence in nursing education.
