William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo., joined with the DAISY Foundation this year to recognize a nursing faculty with the DAISY Faculty Award. The DAISY Foundation created this award for nursing faculty members because they have profound impact on their students, patient care and the profession of nursing. Jan Huster, MSN, RN, was the 2013 Daisy Faculty Award Recipient. She was nominated by students and faculty for her dedication to the nursing profession, nursing education and students. Huster joined the faculty as a clinical adjunct in 2008. She became a full-time faculty member in 2011 as Simulation Outreach Coordinator for the Department?s Jewell Simulation Center as well as the Nursing Research course faculty. One of her nominations described Professor Huster as, ?dedicated to ensuring that we will be not only excellent nurses, but also good people. She is compassionate about her students... She has been such a good example of what it means to be in love with what you do and devote your life to serving others. I feel so blessed to have her as a part of my nursing education and I am convinced that her influence will make me a much better nurse.?
