Dr. Menzies has excellent student evaluations and the students have verbalized how much they enjoy being in her class or clinical section. She provides content that helps them think outside the box and gives them a deeper appreciation for the role of mental health on health outcomes. Dr. Menzies guides students through their own personal journey into mental health and provides them with tools to facilitate self-care. She is aware of the challenges that students face and vulnerabilities they experience and openly discusses these issues so they can be empowered to overcome them. Her presence in the classroom has been described as "therapeutic" and she models the behaviors that students can use in the clinical setting. Dr. Menzies embodies the state of being that she wants her students to achieve in clinical practice. The content she covers is directly applicable to clinical practice and the assignments she has developed helps them to be successful clinicians and/or researchers. She has not only put enormous thought into the course content, but also provides them with resources to help them be successful.
