Cathy is an incredibly gifted individual who fosters the contributions of others. Self-assured and always thoughtful of others, she places a strong emphasis in facilitating effective human relations thus providing students with positive role-modeling attitudes and behaviors. She is sensitive to and respectful of the diverse characteristics of individuals. Her unyielding display of patience, compassion, and confidence has earned her high esteem within the College of Nursing. Cathy is a person of impeccable integrity and I strive to be more like her every day I interact with students. *** She is an amazing classroom teacher and takes advantage of several teaching strategies in her efforts to support student learning and retention of content. She is also regularly assigned to mentor new faculty and encourages them to take extra interest in supporting learners. In addition to being a stellar classroom teacher, Cathy is also a model clinical faculty. She holds students to high standards and works very hard to support their achievement of those standards. It's faculty like Cathy and her approach to teaching that contribute to the strong reputation of UNMC grads. My office is currently located next to Cathy's so I'm able to witness how much time and energy she puts into working with students. There is a steady stream of students. One student recently, upon leaving Cathy's office, paused to tell Cathy she was her favorite teacher. The sincerity with which the student expressed this was evident.
