Sam is an incredible example of a compassionate nurse, strong leader, and role model. She always takes the high road in interactions at the clinical site and encourages us to do the same. She provides us with advice and examples on how to be resilient and strong. She advocates for us to the Linfield faculty and hospital management, bringing to light the struggles we experience, and works to provide a collaborative solution so that we as students could have a more conducive learning environment. I have never in my life had anyone advocate for me the way that Sam has this semester. In addition to being our clinical faculty Sam works in the NICU at Randall and precepts fourth semester students. Outside of school she is raising a family. Yet with this responsibility, she always shows up with a smile on her face and an enthusiasm for education that is incredibly contagious. Even on our worst days, Sam has been there to remind us that we are an incredibly proficient group of students who can work through various challenges. I look up to Sam as a role model for how I want to interact with patients and members of the healthcare team, student nurses in particular. In my nursing career, I strive to be as outstanding and compassionate as she is. We are so lucky to have her at Linfield!
