Dr. Jill Price serves a role model for professional nursing by applying her knowledge of nursing to educating future nurses and completing her PhD. Jill leads by example to encourage others to follow his or her educational goals. Jill demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and nursing by interacting with her students in a positive and encouraging manner. As a practicum mentor for Chamberlain, Jill provides a collaborative working relationship. An example of this, Jill spent a several hours on the phone with her mentee to explain policies and procedures of Chamberlain, how to give constructive feedback in the online community, and instruct students in a positive and respectful way. Jill takes the time to get to know her students and artfully gets meaningful conversations going in the threads. When a difference of opinion occurs with a student, Jill is fair and unbiased in treatment of the individual. This is shown when a student was unclear of the requirements of the rubric and did not show appropriate work to ?prove? she knew what was being asked. Jill spent time explaining the assignment again, and additionally took the time to help the student in formatting the assignment correctly. Jill uses personal attributes: such as a caring approach towards students, confidence in her ability to educate, patience with individuals that need more time to understand, integrity and fairness in grading assignments and interactions, and flexibility in turning assignments around quickly as well as keeping up with required faculty work. Jill?s excellent interpersonal skills allow her do all of this and still keep the student at the center of each encounter.
