Shayna immediately stops whatever she is doing and listens when I speak to her. Not only does she focus on me and listen, but she has the gift of knowing how to reply, not WHAT to reply, so she is open to the issue, not already composing a reply, missing the point, or trying to deflect responsibility. Not only has this sealed my respect and trust in her, but I know I can count on it and I have seen her do this when she is with a patient 1:1 multiple times. Her compassionate care is quite evident, in conversations, when discussing a patient's history, when she meets with a patient and me, or in treatment team meetings. She is very warm, attentive and best of all: present. I believe our patients all relax and take comfort in this. Shayna is one of the most motivated and compassionate nurses I have ever seen. She approaches every patient as though they were the only one in the facility and advocates for their needs above all.
