Professor Murphy was recognized for her excellence in teaching and her quality interactions with learners, and her collaborative relationships. She exhibited kindness and compassion as she worked with students and faculty.  Professor Murphy was truly committed to teaching students how to transition into their next professional role. She shared her experiences with students about her successes and lessons learned as a nurse leader. One student noted, "She is a servant leader with student development at the heart of her vocation. Despite challenging circumstances, Ms. Murphy demonstrated her devotion to nursing students by mentoring them outside of the prescribed classroom expectations." Students valued her contribution to their personal and professional lives. She created the best learning environment for her students.  On several occasions, Professor Murphy has spoken so effortlessly with the students in Transitions about a variety of topics. It is amazing how she helped students to learn about nursing management and leadership sharing her expertise on nursing care delivery models, health finance, and challenges and rewards of working in nurse leadership roles. Holding the attention of senior nursing students on the brink of graduation was no easy task, but she made it look so easy.  Being around her, you immediately sensed her sincerity and understood where she got her servant leadership approach to nursing. You could always count on seeing her smiling face and learning something new about nursing and about how to be a better person. Professor Murphy sought excellence in every endeavor. When others tried to lighten her load, she was concerned about their workload and was quoted as saying "I have never NOT finished something." She was an exemplary educator, changing the lives of many students and faculty. We thank you for all you have done to promote excellence in the nursing profession.
