Kay is an instructor that inspires me to learn and every class with her can be an example of her dedication to her students' learning. When there is material that I don't understand, she explains it in different ways. She tries to make sure that students are prepared for tests and for the nursing profession. I always feel that she is trying to prepare her students for a successful career in nursing. Kay listens to her students and their concerns and gives validation to them. She is the type of teacher that encourages questions and critical thinking. Kay listens to each question with the same respect and answers it fully. No question is a dumb question. If she doesn't know the answer, she encourages the student to find the answer and then shows interest in what was found. She encourages students to work hard and do better. Kay once told me not to settle, because even as a new graduate nurse, I can work wherever I want to. She makes herself available to students more than any other teacher I have had. Not only does Kay have a vested interest in teaching, she also shows a genuine interest in her students and their well-being. Even sitting in one class with her, you will notice her passion for nursing and her passion for teaching.
