Professor Smith is my lab instructor for Health Assessment this semester and I immediately thought of her when reading through The DAISY Faculty Award email. Since the first day of lab she was eager to teach us and ensure our success by allowing us to ask questions, demonstrate to us as many times as we needed, and ask us what we needed help with. She was always willing to clarify anything for us. I know professors have strict curriculum and time frames, but that never deterred her from putting us first by asking us what we needed the most help with. But what really set her apart from my other Professors for me was that for 3 weeks she lectured us during our break to help us fill any gaps in our understanding. Lab didn't start until 10:30am for her and us, but when we explained to her that we felt lost after our in class lecture with another professor, she took initiative and brought us up to speed during our break. She didn't have to do that, but I will forever be grateful to her for making me feel like she cared, but also strengthening my confidence as a student nurse.
Professor Smith is an exceptional educator. She is an individual that truly cares about the students and their experience at Resurrection University. She goes above and beyond the requirements of her position. She is always there to listen to us when we need orientation or guidance in any situation. There was even a time that she stayed an hour past class just to ease our minds and shared her nursing experiences to assure us that we are on the path to become great nurses. She is always using school resources to expose us to new experiences so that we may be well rounded nurses. She is an amazing person and someone to really look up to.
