There were 2 nominations submitted for this faculty member:This faculty member is a phenomenal instructor, mentor, and leader. Her engagement within the classroom, the health system and the community has inspired me to take on challenges that I would have never considered before. In the classroom, she actively participates in discussion boards and challenges students to open their minds to other ideas, opinions and new concepts. This approach has greatly increased my learning and enjoyment of the class. Beyond the classroom, I consider her a great mentor. She has empowered and guided me to take on new challenges such as applying for grant funding for translational research projects, program planning/development and dissemination. With her guidance, I received the 2018 NNF research grant that I used for developing and implementing an interactive, simulated wound care program to increase nurse knowledge and confidence with the assessment and treatment of wounds at Methodist Hospital. I could not have done this without her. Thank you for all your guidance, help and support! 
This faculty member has been a patient, kind, and highly competent program director and professor since my very first inquiries into my program, to the present. I am now one and a half semesters away from graduating with my degree, an accomplishment that I could not have envisioned even five years ago. She has provided a "just right" amount of support and mentoring through my coursework and helped me to navigate my Capstone project process with relative ease. When I have encountered extreme personal challenges, she has always been there to provide the space for me to think through my options and has been supportive of me as an adult learner to make whatever decisions I have felt would be best for me. As I prepare for the final semester of my program, I look forward to an opportunity to work alongside her in a mentored teaching practicum and know that even though I may have taught nursing for years, I will be challenged by her to consider new concepts and to expand my skill set as an educator. While all my professors at NMC have provided excellent teaching, I cannot think of a more deserving faculty member or one who exemplifies the qualities that are represented by the DAISY Award than this faculty member.
