On April 29, 2011, the Cincinnati Galen College of Nursing presented the DAISY Faculty Award for outstanding nursing faculty to Ms. Taylor Musselman. Ms. Musselman has been with the Cincinnati campus since July, 2009 and has taught not only clinicals for Medical-Surgical Nursing and Chronic Illness, but also works to obtain and coordinate preceptorships for students. Taylor’s nomination came not from the staff or management of Galen but by the Galen students themselves. Students wrote examples of excellence such as:
“I was lucky enough to have this instructor as my clinical instructor for 2 classes. She was amazing. She was very patient and willing to show us everything she could.”
“This instructor was available for every student. She was very busy but was always very caring and compassionate with the patients. I admire her for always having a smile on her face, working hard, and being available for any question and for all her students.”
“I learned more in my clinicals with this instructor than I did in the time I spent in my classes. She was always willing to help us become more knowledgeable, even to the point of making worksheets for points on which we were weak or confused”
It was my pleasure on behalf of The Galen College of Nursing and The DAISY Foundation to have presented the DAISY Faculty Award to this outstanding faculty member.
