Audrey was assigned to shadow in our department and was paired up with me. Immediately I found her to be intelligent, well prepared, and enthusiastic to learn. She brought a very nice energy to the pod we were assigned and I hope I was able to impart some knowledge to her. She volunteered to triage the patients assigned to me and collect vital signs. I observed her actively listening to her patients and she easily established rapport with them. What really stood out in my mind was when she went on her lunch break to check on the unit that she works as a patient care technician. She learned that the unit was going to be short staffed that night so she changed her personal plans and scheduled herself to work that night. I believe this shows her caring about not only her patients but also her colleagues and I think that spirit should be encouraged and rewarded.
