It has been my great privilege to be Amy?s teaching assistant in her current Medical-Surgical clinical. Amy exemplifies excellence in nursing because of her innate ability to provide personalized, compassionate care to her patients. We are over half way through the semester but the amount of positive feedback Amy has received from patients, families, and the nursing staff is incomparable to the rest of her classmates. There is one particular patient that told Amy several times throughout her clinical shift that she wanted to talk to her clinical instructor before her shift was over. Towards the end of the shift, I went in to see the patient and the patient looked at me and said, ?I have never felt like anybody has genuinely ever cared about me until I met Amy. Amy exceeded expectations as a student nurse, and I just had to tell you how amazing she was. I will never forget what Amy did for me.? After talking to Amy?s patient a little more, I found out that the patient was going through a lot of different hardships in her life. She then went on to say that Amy took the time to sit by her side to listen to her story and that she felt empowered through the compassionate care Amy provided for her. Amy is one of a kind. She comes to clinical every week with a positive attitude, her clinical skills exceed expectations, she is a great role model for her classmates, and her compassion and care for her patients is unbelievable. Amy goes above and beyond in providing holistic for her patients not just once in awhile, but consistently every week. Amy should strongly be considered for the DAISY in training award.
