The first thing Kira did was to create a bond by talking and drawing me into a very pleasant conversation, learning more about me, outside of me just being a patient. This bond became increasingly more important when my White Blood Cell (WBC) count came back high which meant there was the possibility of an infection. I immediately started panicking and worrying. Kira took the time to calm me down, explaining to me that this can happen, and talked me through multiple blood draws and a lot of anxiety. You see...I knew someone who experienced a spinal infection and is now paralyzed. You can only imagine how stressed out this whole situation made me. Kira also notified my doctors and arranged for both my surgeon and medical doctor to come in and see me.
