The fact is that Ali didn't make me feel that she had to get on with her other duties, but paid attention and listed and help me cope with the new medical information I had been provided.
I was recently admitted to Danbury Hospital, section 11 East. I am now discharged back home but wanted to write you to commend the work of your nurse Ali Hancock. She was the best nurse that I ever had. I have been a patient at many hospitals. Given my experience as a patient, I have some clear ideas about what makes for a good nurse. In Ali's case, she was very responsive to my needs and went beyond the call of duty. For example, she would bring me ice to put on my left wrist which was feeling bruised, although that was not one of my designated problems that I was there for.
Most importantly, Ali had a clear grasp of the medical information that was being shared with me by the hospital doctors and cardiologist. So when the doctors left the room and provided me with extensive information, I would ask Ali to reiterate and give me an opportunity to try to absorb it. Not only was she willing to do that, but she gave me complete confidence that she knew what she was talking about and would help me understand the tests and diagnoses.
I know that all of the hospital is over-worked and all of the staff are pushed to the limit at this point with the pandemic. The fact is that Ali didn't make me feel that she had to get on with her other duties, but paid attention and listed and help me cope with the new medical information I had been provided. Her performance was exemplary, her interactive style was professional but warm, and if I ever am required to be in any hospital again, I'll be comparing my nurse to Ali. Please extend to her my appreciation for a job well done. And you should feel proud to have such an extraordinary staff person.
