I could tell she was very sincere and caring about my needs and because of that I decided to stay. If it wasn't for Ana showing very sincere compassion and caring I would have left.
Ana was my nurse on my first night here and my 3rd night. On my first night, I got to my room late that night. Ana was very proficient in getting everything I needed so I could go to sleep within an hour after I got to my room. She told me she wouldn't bother me while I was sleeping which I greatly appreciated. On my 3rd night is where I feel she went above and beyond my expectations. When she came to my room, I was already mad because it took 1 ½ hours to get my dinner and I was not being kept informed of what was going on with my care during the day shift. Plus, the CNA on the night shift wrote on my board a different nurse's name other than Ana. So, when Ana came into my room an hour after shift change, I was visibly upset. She immediately offered a sincere apology for taking so long to get to me and explained that she got stuck in another patient's room and had asked the CNA to let me know. The CNA never did tell me and Ana sincerely apologized for that. She also apologized for the wrong nurse name being on the board. Per my request, she went and got the charge nurse. Ana immediately offered to reheat my meal, which she did. When Ana came to my room I was telling her because of the bad care I had gotten from everyone but her, that I was going to leave against medical advice and without finishing my course of IV antibiotics. She begged me not to leave so I could continue to get the care I needed. I could tell she was very sincere and caring about my needs and because of that I decided to stay. If it wasn't for Ana showing very sincere compassion and caring I would have left. I feel she saved me from getting worse and making a bad decision to leave just by her being sincere and showing she cares about her patients. She also made sure I knew when I was getting my antibiotics and other meds. Plus, she asked me if I wanted her to check on me hourly, which I greatly appreciated. In my opinion, Ana is a perfect example of how a great nurse should be.
