My left foot was amputated. This would seem like devastating news; however, I was expecting something like this to happen to me. Nurse Frank was my nurse during the first 4 days of my amputation. He was able to keep me at a level where my pain was under control. He also gave me insight into how my next surgery was going to be because he had experienced ortho surgeries before.
The best thing was the day of my above-the-knee amputation he was there, and he made it better because I knew I would be in his care when I came out of my second surgery. This whole amputee story, I have faced it without any family or friends or even my fiancé present because of the pandemic and other reasons. Frank treated me like family and the reassurance of him being there to look after me really filled my heart with joy!
He is a true DAISY Nurse because he goes above and beyond the call of duty. He has a great bedside manner, and he is just a super great person. I know that through this amputee ordeal the days that I was in his care were integral to my experience being positive and to help me be a better survivor. I just want to thank Frank for everything he did for me. For his nursing care and for being there for me when my family couldn't.
