I had a Spanish-speaking patient, whose dad was having trouble communicating even with our iPad interpreter. This nurse stopped what she was doing, even though her own day was extremely busy, and helped explain a procedure to my patient and Dad. She stayed with them and sat with the patient to talk to her about what was going to happen, and put her Voalte phone number on the board for them to call her with any questions or needs, even though she had a busy patient assignment of her own. She does this with any nurse on the unit who has Spanish-speaking families and always is available to help communicate. This nurse goes above and beyond, not only for her patients but her coworkers as well.
