Melissa is my nurse manager on 2-East. I have worked with Melissa for almost five years now. We worked together on another unit when I was a care partner and Melissa was a new nurse. When I transitioned into the new nurse role Melissa was my preceptor. Melissa is reliable and is always looking out for her staff and the patients on the floor. She has an open-door policy and I know I can always talk to her about anything. As a CSN on the floor, I can expect a text from Melissa around 2100 to see how the shift is going and if she will be needed to come in. She has come in early in the morning to make the assignment if it has been a crazy night. While Melissa is new to the role she has set the bar very high. She is committed to staff retention as well as ensuring the new graduate nurses feel safe, confident, and welcomed. She has brought many new ideas to this floor. I am so lucky and honored to have a leader that cares about me and my nursing career. I have the right connections and resources I need to be successful and make the next step. I am so happy I get to call Melissa both my Team Leader and friend.
