Throughout my father's lengthy stay at the hospital, Gretchen went out of her way to connect with my dad. Though his dementia made it difficult to understand what he needed, she worked tirelessly to help make him as comfortable and as peaceful as possible. Additionally, with COVID restrictions making family visits impossible, she helped keep us connected with him through her personal updates on not only his medical status but also his overall well-being. As his time came close to the end, Gretchen continued to compassionately care for him while helping to support my mother and me during this challenging time. It is clear that nursing for Gretchen is not just a job, but a calling for her. I am certain that she has helped numerous people like my father and family. We are eternally grateful for her compassionate care, as we are with all the staff that cared for my father during his stay.
