I am writing to tell you about our recent experiences on several occasions with a particular nurse in the ED. Her name is Laine. I would just like to say that she is an amazing asset to the ED! I have a nephew who is a severe alcoholic, unfortunately and has been through the ED countless times. He has been difficult many times and we feel terrible about the situation.
However, we love him, and he is part of our family. Sadly, this is a problem with many, many families. When Laine is working she treats him just like one of her family members and is very compassionate. She makes sure he eats and does not get upset when he is acting out because of his disease. We make no excuses for him and completely understand the problem he is causing our family and the entire community. We greatly appreciate that in our most difficult times when he is in the ER that he receives excellent care when she is working. I am certain there are many others who do a good job as well; however, Laine is a shining star and has a tremendous gift. We see it every time we are there.
