She is well in tune with all her patients, and when she recognizes these little things it shows how compassionate and caring Keisha is.
A patient had a wet bed post-Cath and needed to be changed. RN was in a bay with another patient, Keisha RN to change the patient's bedding and gown and peer wick. One female RN (Keisha) and a male RN were in the bay when another female RN came to the bay to escort the patient back to the room. Keisha then asked the male RN to step out of the room and allow the female to assist her when changing the patient. This is a polite and modest way to treat a patient. RN showed compassion and respect towards the patient by asking the male RN to leave the room and allow the patient the decency of not being exposed. Many times, RNs take a person's gown off, with no care, to change them, wipe them down, and do not show any decency towards the human being that is being taken care of. In this instance, the RN Keisha showed compassion and a caring attitude on one of the simplest things to do. As a nurse, it is the little things that make a difference in a patient's life, and when you take care of the small things people remember that. She could have just changed the patient with no concern for who is in the room, but Keisha recognized the opportunity to provide decency and privacy to respect the patient's dignity in a vulnerable time. More RNs need to take notice of a simple kind gesture and practice the same way that Keisha did. This is not the first time the male RN has noticed this from Keisha. She is well in tune with all her patients, and when she recognizes these little things it shows how compassionate and caring Keisha is.

She is kind, compassionate, and pays attention to details. We contended on a favorite restaurant and dish. She made sure we got what we needed so we could go home. Thank you for everything.

She stuck with me all the way. She made me feel very comfortable about the procedure. Afterward, she explained what I had to do next. Very clearly.
