Lavern checked on me constantly and the care, comforting, and "little things" that made my stay at St Luke's my best experience of all the hospitals I've been in.
I came in today to have a tumor removed with my sigmoid colon and to have my ostomy bag removed by reversal procedure.
I encountered complications that made the surgery impossible at this time. Needless to say, I was disappointed as I have worked hard for twenty-three months to become even eligible, and removing my bag will make such a change in the quality of my life. Basically, I was just SPENT and really down in the dumps!
Then Lavern came on as my night nurse and things changed. I have visited many hospitals as part of this battle and never had a nurse like Lavern. I don't know if Lavern sensed I was really struggling or if she treats all her patients like I was treated. But it was fantastic and a privilege! But I have never in all of my hospital stays ever received such attentiveness and kindness. Lavern checked on me constantly and the care, comforting, and "little things" that made my stay at St Luke's my best experience of all the hospitals I've been in.
Lavern is kind, professional, thorough, and goes the extra mile to ensure St Luke's patients get great care!
