Jeanne is such a warm, caring individual who goes above and beyond to help her patients and their caregivers.
It is with great pride I nominate my colleague and dear friend Jeanne Mihalik for the internationally recognized DAISY Award. I am overwhelmingly proud to say I work with Jeanne Mihalik in the Geriatric Assessment Center. To work beside Jeanne is to see an angel perform miracles and If you don't believe in angel's then it's like watching a magician. Jeanne has always given each of her patients and her fellow team members extraordinary care. Look up the definition of extraordinary care, compassionate, respectful, or professional - you will find Jeanne Mihalik's name next to each of them.
Jeanne the angel, the magician.Jeanne is such a warm, caring individual who goes above and beyond to help her patients and their caregivers. With her exceptional professional, interpersonal skills Jeanne quickly gains the trust and respect of the patient, their caregivers and, her peers. Arriving at our office for the first time, the patient and their caregiver may be a bit nervous. Nervous out of fear of what the outcome will be. Some patients are aware he/she may have the onset of some underlying issues. I've watched Jeanne get them to relax and laugh to the point the patient quickly realizes they truly have someone here that cares about them. Jeanne learns all she can about each patient. She understands and respects everyone's ethnic background and religious beliefs - which plays a significant role in the patient's daily wellbeing. Jeanne always gives each patient and their caregiver(s) such compassionate care, and the emotional support one needs to get through each day. Jeanne together with our social worker will give the family all the resources that are available to assist the patient and or caregiver. No one leaves our office wondering what is next.
Jeanne the educator. Jeanne carefully explains everything in detail. A patient never leaves without fully understanding why they are having this test or why are they being prescribed this medication and they fully understand the next steps to be taken. Jeanne has also mentored many student nurse practitioners and each one has stated how remarkable she is.
Jeanne the friend. Jeanne is highly respected amongst her peers and throughout the office. One day a fellow team member was under stress. Jeanne Mihalik noticed it immediately and jumped into action. Jeanne just coolly walked over to our fellow colleague and they both took a walk. Didn't take long to see them both trotting back with giggles on their faces. Such Extraordinary Care is what the DAISY Award is all about.
