Katie Torres is one of our charge nurses, and I want to recognize her for always going above and beyond to, not only support fellow nurses, but also all of our patients. I know when I arrive to work and I see Katie's name on our staffing list, it is going to be a wonderful night no matter what happens because Katie always has our backs. As a new nurse, this first year has been very difficult for me, but Katie has continued to lift me up, teach me, support me, and encourage me. Even on the craziest of nights, she makes herself available to anyone who needs her. She cares so much for the patients, from consoling a spouse as his wife is rushed back for an emergency cesarean section to advocating for our patients' wishes to the care team. I don't know how she offers bedside nursing support while simultaneously managing and coordinating 10 other things that are happening on a giant labor unit, but she does it! Not only is she wonderful at supporting our patients but she always knows what to do in emergency situations. I would trust Katie with my life. I'm so proud to work with her, and I want her to be recognized for the incredible nurse and leader that she is.
