He encouraged her to come into the ED and seek medical attention. She did. Because of Jay and the team, this baby still has his Mother today.
We received a call from a woman who was clearly distraught. She expertly passed the call on to an RN, who was able to assess this woman was extremely depressed with suicidal ideations. The RN pleaded with the woman to come to the ED to seek help. Jay informed Security to notify staff immediately for any patients who may match the description come to the ED. Jay also had the inclination to ask Security to check the parking lot to see if anybody was in their care who matched the description. Security reported back they did not see any younger adult females who appeared to be emotionally distraught. In my opinion, what was divine intervention, Jay took his break and decided to go out to the parking lot to check for himself. He did in fact observe a woman in her car sobbing and visibly distressed. Jay approached the woman and began speaking to her, he discovered she was the woman who called the ED to seek medical attention. He encouraged her to come into the ED and seek medical attention. She did. It turns out this woman just had a baby in December and was experiencing postpartum depression. Because of Jay and the team, this baby still has his Mother today. I am so proud to be a part of a team that recognizes emergencies and goes above and beyond to help those in need at their most vulnerable.
