RN

Garnet Health Medical Center
From my very first contact with her, I felt a sense of assurance that my dad was not only in very competent hands but very caring hands. Amy's professionalism and knowledge can only be matched by her compassion and genuine concern.
My father was a patient at Orange Regional Medical Center. His admittance to the hospital as well as his condition came as a shock to all of his friends and family. His condition rapidly deteriorated and ultimately he passed.
Although the entire staff was courteous and professional, I'm sending you this to show my sincere appreciation and gratitude to one nurse, in particular, Amy. From my very first contact with her, I felt a sense of assurance that my dad was not only in very competent hands but very caring hands. Amy's professionalism and knowledge can only be matched by her compassion and genuine concern. Concern not only for her patient but the patient's family as well. I saw this first hand and would like to mention just a few of the many examples of this.
Let's put this into perspective. Although we all must deal with circumstances like this at some point in our lives when you're involved in it, it's stressful and you're faced with many thoughts and decisions. A Doctor will come into the room, spend three minutes (maybe), give a prognosis, and leave. This is where one of the outstanding qualities that Amy has shown.
Although my father's outcome was anticipated, she took the time to basically speak to me as a caring friend and assure me that he would be kept comfortable. After she spoke with me, I felt a calming relief and truly appreciated her words. They were strengthening and I will never forget how impressed I was by her.
Another very much appreciated thing would be the frequency of visits Amy made throughout the night. I'm sure that she keeps a very busy schedule but at no time did I ever feel that my dad (or myself for that matter) had ever been forgotten about. Again, I couldn't have asked for a more attentive and caring person. Amy is a valuable asset and was a true gift to my father.
During my dad's final hours, Amy was there much more frequently, and at no time did I ever feel that he was in pain. Amy was right by my side when dad passed. I'll never forget what she said to him and I'd like to think that he was able to hear her. "You're walking with the angels now babe". I'm so very thankful that Amy was there for us. My father wasn't very lucky in life. However, in his final days, he was very lucky to have Amy there.
Amy is extraordinary and I cannot say enough to compliment her. From the bottom of my heart, I thank her. She is an angel. Thank you.
