Within the last month, Rose Schwager was caring for a man who she found to be tearful near the end of his stay with us. When asked if there was anything she could do to help, the patient replied, "No, I just don't know how I am going to pay for this medication."
Rose immediately went to Case Management and our Navigators to help, but she knew that they could not help the patient in the near term. Because Rose felt there was an immediate need to help, she purchased the patient's medication out of her own money and happily handed the patient a 3 month supply of medication that he could begin taking immediately.
