Jamie was assisting one of our surgery patients who was also having GYN issues when she called. The patient was very upset because she was having issues that needed to be addressed, but she only had a primary care physician. She felt that he was not listening to her issues and needs. She felt that because he was a man he just wasn't understanding her concerns. Jamie explained to her that she could contact someone to be assisted in finding a new physician. The patient wanted a recommendation of someone that could help, not just another name out of a list. Jamie told the patient that she had a great experience with her own OB/GYN and even though he was a male doctor, he was one of the best listeners, very intelligent, and great at making a plan of care that both agreed upon. The patient ended up contacting the office for an urgent appt and was able to get in the next day. After that appt, she had a follow-up appt in our office. When she was checking out with me, she asked who it was that gave her the referral because she could not remember the name. It was Jamie, who spoke to the patient for 30 minutes the prior day assisting her. She was so grateful for Jamie giving her the name. She said she had never felt more comfortable with a physician and finally felt she found someone who would listen and really help her. She said she finally felt like she was going to get her health on track and owed it all to Jamie and her referral. She was so happy to be able to speak with Jamie and thank her personally.
