I was a patient at Shirley Ryan for approximately 13 days. During my stay, I was cared for by nothing but exceptional people. I was able to regain a lot of my strength and mobility with the help of these wonderful people.
One of the nurses that were taking care of me, Lanie Callaghan, went above and beyond caring for me. She developed with me a special bond of caregiver and patient that I as the patient could only feel. Nothing was too small or overwhelming for her to do to help me feel like I was her special charge. I think as time went by we developed this special bond as not only nurse/patient but a genuine friendship where I could talk to her about so many other things going on with my life that I began to feel like one of her close friends or even a family member. Lanie helped make my stay so much better than I ever could have imagined. She is a truly outstanding nurse and individual.
