Camille is truly an example of a nurse who chose nursing as a career due to her desire to provide compassionate care to patients and their families. Such a hard job, especially during COVID-19.
Dad spent over a month in ICUS on a ventilator and hooked up to so many things! He had wonderful nurses every single day! However, Camille deserves this award for the strength, support, and compassion during Dad's last day here on earth. When Palliative care was scheduled to begin, Camille called me and offered to call or FaceTime me to say goodbye. I wasn't strong enough to do it. I just couldn't bear to watch him go. She didn't have a choice, she had to be there. But she didn't just "watch him die:". She stayed next to him and held his hand as he took his final breath. Our family will be forever grateful that he wasn't alone!. This is the type of strength, courage, and compassion that deserves a DAISY Award.
