Being a nurse myself, I know what it is like to work long hours, deal with grumpy patients, all the while you need to pee. Well, I was in Recovery after having my second hysterectomy. Once awake from my two and half-hour procedure, they moved me to what I believe was the secondary recovery that allows you to go home. I was feeling quite lightheaded, very very thirsty, and in pain. My nurse was Darleen. She was amazing. She was so gentle, so calm, and really took care of my needs.
Being that we are in a pandemic, I was unable to have my husband or my mom with me but having this nurse at my side I felt pure comfort. It was like having my mom there with me. Darleen answered all my questions. She helped clean me and really showed that she cared. You can tell that she really loves her job because her compassion was stellar. She calmed my nerves and really made my stay there quite pleasant. It makes a difference. She is a real asset to the medical profession. Because of her, I am proud to be a nurse, and I promise to treat my patients as she did me. I will not forget her. Thank you.
