Chitongo
,
RN
Head and Neck ward L23
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Manny went above and beyond in being my manager; he showed me nothing but care, sympathy, empathy, and understanding and became almost my confidant and counselor.
Manny is the senior charge nurse of L23, and he goes above and beyond for his staff and his patients. He is the best manager/ charge nurse I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He really cares for his staff and treats everyone as equals, he ensures everyone is looked after by having 1:1 meetings and addressing any concerns from staff. He does not stop working and he always has a smile on his (when we could see it before masks).
Even though he is a senior charge nurse he always works on the ward at any level and will fill gaps in staffing if needed. There is never a stupid question, and you can always ask him for help his knowledge is great and he is keen to teach. He will always go above and beyond for his patients and looks after each person holistically. He is an outstanding man and senior charge nurse and is an exemplary member of LTHT and for the Leeds Way.
He helped me pursue my passion of becoming a staff nurse when I started working with him as a ward clerk back in 2015. I could say so much more, but from me and everyone you have ever come in contact with and helped, we thank you, Manny.
****
For the time Emmanuel has been ward L23 manager he has shown extraordinary care to all patients and never shows anything but compassion, empathy, and sincerity to anyone he comes into contact with.
He never stops doing anything in his power to make sure patients have a clear set informative plan of care they will have while under his care. His dedication never wavers, and it has been an absolute honor to work alongside such a person.
This is not the only reason I nominate Emmanuel for a DAISY Award, like so many other nurses he gives everything to what he does. I am L23s ward clerk and over the last three or so years have looked after my husband during a long illness and sadly has recently passed away. I have had lots of issues with anxiety and other mental health issues throughout this time. You could say I became a patient of Emmanuel's in a different form. He went above and beyond in being my manager; he showed me nothing but care, sympathy, empathy, and understanding and became almost my confidant and counselor.
He did everything to make work life and my carer's life as easy as possible changing hours, listening to me, and just always being available so many times. I don't think I would be where I am now without his support much the same as the patients he gives his life and time to every day. He certainly is an unsung hero.
