Not only did Gissele come in for an extra shift to lend a helping hand to her fellow co-workers, but she also went above and beyond while caring for her patients. We have had a patient on the unit that is positive for COVID that has been here for many days. Due to this, she has been unable to have any family come and visit her. This patient had a birthday and Gissele spent a long 12-hour shift ensuring that this patient was well taken care of.
After her shift was complete, Gissele left the hospital and went and bought this patient a birthday gift. She then returned to the hospital to present the patient with the gift. I believe this is truly a display of the kindness and compassion that Gissele gives to her patients on a daily basis. This is not the first time I've heard a story of Gissele ensuring that her patient was celebrated on their birthday. This was very moving for the patient because not only is she spending her birthday in the hospital, but she is very critically ill and isolated from her family. I'm really proud of Gissele and want to thank her for taking the time out to show compassion and kindness to our patients. She is a phenomenal nurse.
