Kristy subsequently returned from her own break with a nice hot plate of eggs and bacon for me- a plate she had paid for with her own money.
I was in 7 South COVID isolation rooms. I had COPD before contracting the COVID Virus at my sister's funeral in late September. I wasn't sure if I was going to survive it; so many people have not. The stay there was a psychological roller coaster to be sure. A rather bleak and lonely time. Kristy was just a special nurse. She has a very wonderful, caring way about her. She was very efficient in doing her job, while at the same time, helping to address my psychological needs during this miserable period.
One particular morning I did not receive a breakfast (I never lost my appetite with COVID). So meals were my 'big event' of the day for me. It got to be about 9:30 AM when I let Kristy know I had not received a tray. She tried to get me a tray, but by then it was too late from the kitchen. Kristy subsequently returned from her own break with a nice hot plate of eggs and bacon for me- a plate she had paid for with her own money. I tried to give her some money for the breakfast, but she refused to take anything. The amount of money involved here will not mean early retirement for anyone, but the warm, caring actions of an exceptional nurse made this happen. I liked to think I was a mentally tough individual, but this isolation, loneliness, and uncertainty were difficult. She was a very caring, efficient, and simply good person. Kristy was very helpful in getting me through this!
