Allison is the true hero here at MSLC.
I would like to nominate Allison Neville for the MSLC DAISY Award. Allison has been a Birthing Center nurse for many years. Prior to working in Maternal Child Health, Allison was a critical care nurse. When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived at MSLC, our ICU was inundated with critically ill patients. In anticipation of the surge of ICU patients, Allison transferred to ICU and received a one-week review before becoming a member of the ICU staff. For months, Allison worked alongside her colleagues in ICU caring for the sickest patients with a new disease that no one fully understood. Without a complaint, this Birthing Center nurse transformed back to an ICU nurse and cared for these patients.
Once the surge eased, Allison returned to the Birthing Center. When the second wave hit, Allison was once again asked to move to the ICU, and again, without complaint and with a wonderful, CAN DO attitude, Allison worked in ICU with the sickest patients. Even now, if Allison is needed in ICU, the supervisor will call and Allison goes. This is a true display of doing what is right for the patients. They say that healthcare workers are the true heroes of this pandemic. Allison is the true hero here at MSLC. If anyone deserves the DAISY Award, Allison is the person.
