Siobhan cares about these babies and is invested in them. We are so thankful to have her on our baby's care team.
I met Siobhan after our newly adopted baby had surgery. She started to educate us on how to take care of our baby from the first day we met her. She was always encouraging and supportive throughout our whole 3 weeks stay. When we were being discharged, our baby became the test patient for the tracking app for weight and vitals. We input data daily so she can track progress for vitals and weight. She has shared her feedback and suggestions to increase our baby's volume and to get the weight up. She has quickly become a friend. She is always upbeat and supportive. She has gone out of her way to always answer our questions and get us access to the care we needed. She texts and checks in on us on her days off. She does not have to check in on us on her day off, but that is how much she truly cares.
We have always felt comfortable asking any questions to Siobhan. She always meets us at our baby's doctor appointments to follow-up and to check-in to see if we need anything. There are so many examples of her going above and beyond her job, it's hard to choose one to share. Two that quickly come to mind are one day the O2 sats were lower than normal, so she quickly coordinated with the cardiologist's office for our baby to be seen that day. It was close to lunch and I had not had lunch that day. She walked us over to the cafeteria and helped me with the baby so I could get food and go to the restroom. Having her support and help on days when we are at doctor appointments for hours has been so helpful. Especially with Covid when I can't have another person to come help me with the baby. I do not think some days I could've done it without her.
Siobhan cares about these babies and is invested in them. We are so thankful to have her on our baby's care team; knowing she is available for any question, no matter how small, has been so comforting. The other example is our home scale had broken and was giving us crazy numbers. I texted her and she happened to be off that day to be with her family. She was not at the hospital but made sure a scale was brought over to us at the doctor's office so we would be having a working scale. I wish all nurses cared and were as deeply invested in their patients as she is. Our baby has a few more surgeries to go and I know she will hold our hands and walk us through the process. It makes it less scary knowing we have her to help us.
