In addition to performing her job at an exemplary level, Allison demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to her patients and co-workers at Emory Johns Creek. Her professionalism and compassion are evident in every interaction with patients, families, and co-workers. These are not just my feelings [as her leader] but the feelings of her patients as well as described below:
I received a phone call on a Saturday afternoon from a patient. He called to thank all of the staff for the wonderful care he was receiving in the ED, but especially for Allison. He said that he passed three hospitals to come to Johns Creek because of the treatment he always receives, but this time there was something more. He said that Allison took the time to listen to him, to make sure he had what he needed, and made sure he was comfortable. Her professionalism and caring nature made her a "special gem" and he said she was exemplary in her practice.
You could hear the emotion in his voice and it was one of the most heartwarming conversations I have had. He not only expressed his gratitude and thankfulness for Allison to me, but also to his son. His son also reached out to call me and to make sure that Allison was recognized for having such an impact on his father and his recovery. He joked that he felt that he knew Allison because his father talked about her so much and that he and his family were comforted to know that even though they could not come and visit, that his father had such amazing care and Allison.
