Samantha even painted the patient's nails!
I nominated Samantha for the compassionate care that she gives day in and day out for our patients on 2B. In particular, she has been a big help in taking care of a patient who has been on our unit for a few months now. The patient has advanced dementia and a complicated history, which leads her to have a long-term stay with us. She can be difficult at times, but Samantha has been extremely patient and has gone out of her way to make sure that she gets the very best care.
Samantha, along with others, went out of their way to make sure that the patient would have a memorable birthday while in the hospital and purchased decorations, gifts, and a cake. The patient does not have belongings, so they bought things she needed when she left the hospital, including clothes. Samantha even painted the patient's nails! The patient would excitingly show her nails off and kept calling Samantha her little angel and that this was her best birthday ever. I believe that Samantha should be recognized for her continued compassion and empathy that she has with all her patients. She is an amazing nurse, and we are thankful to have her on 2B.
Congratulations, Samantha!
