Yaney laughed with us as we remembered my mother, and cried with us as if one of our family.
Yaney Lippold was the primary nurse during my mother's recent hospitalization and eventual passing. Yaney's care of my mother and entire family during this extremely difficult time was nothing short of extraordinary. She lovingly and skillfully cared for my mom and provided her the utmost dignity, compassion, and respect with each task.
She was incredibly compassionate with my family. As a certified diabetes care and education specialist in the hospital setting, I asked for some "nursy" information with regard to my mom's type 1 diabetes... of course. She was the consummate professional and never once took offense to suggestions. She considerately listened and communicated the information to the appropriate providers, which ultimately resulted positively - we nurses can be such a pain.
She provided my father with explanations that he could understand. Yaney laughed with us as we remembered my mother, and cried with us as if one of our family. Each time she entered the room she explained what she would be doing and before leaving, she asked if she could do or get anything for us. My cranky old dad, who would admit to not liking very many people, was so inspired by Yaney's care that he asked her, "Is it was difficult to remove your angel wings each night when you go to sleep?"
Our family could not have asked for more from our nurse. Her care and loving professionalism were just what we all needed as mom entered into eternal rest. Yaney exemplifies everything that the DAISY Award stands for. She made an extraordinary and everlasting difference in my mom, dad, and entire family's lives. We will always remember the positives we experienced during difficult times because of Yaney's wonderful skill, character, heart, and soul.
