I was recently admitted into Jefferson hospital. I had come into the emergency room because I was in excruciating pain and had surgery a few months before to remove my kidney and a large tumor. You can understand I was worried about the outcome of my visit. As I feared, I received the worst possible news. Three lesions on my CT scan, I was devastated. Shortly after that, I was informed I would be admitted to help control my pain and meet with oncology the next day. I was taken to my room.
That is when I met my nurse Iwona Soloff. She instantly made me feel better with her delightful personality and warm caring nature. She went above and beyond to meet my needs. I had been in the ER since the afternoon and by the time I was admitted it was well after midnight. She said I must be starving and gave me a list of items she could get for me. I honestly had no idea how hungry I was until the food arrived. She thoroughly went through all the paperwork in my folder, how to use the phone, TV remote and how to call for help. We talked about family and Iwona shared with me her own experience with cancer letting me know I was in the best hands possible and I was not alone. She went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and at ease. She checked on me constantly even noting I didn't go to sleep. When I mentioned that I was uncomfortable and that I usually sleep with a sleep mask she told me she would be right back with one.
You are very lucky to have Iwona on your staff. I honestly believe she is not just a nurse but also part angel caring for the sick. The world would be a better place if there were more people on this earth like her. As I face this new health battle it puts me at ease that if I ever have to be hospitalized again that I may come in contact with a nurse like her. Thank you to everyone at Jefferson. I received outstanding care and will be forever grateful.
