Zoe! What a light of a nurse she is. We had her a few times during one of my son's admissions on 4D. My little boy had a life-shortening illness and despite knowing that, Zoe made us feel better during such a sad time in our lives. It was easy and comforting to talk to her, she really put herself in my shoes and let me know how great of a job I was doing advocating for my son, even though I could not help but feel I was doing everything wrong. I talked to her so much about our situation and it was very comforting to know we had a nurse who genuinely cared enough to listen.
She is a positive energy that every family at SickKids needs. It's not an easy place to be staying in with your child, but nurses like Zoe make it a better and more caring environment. Zoe stood by my side during a pivotal moment in I believe our last admission to SickKids. I know it was a difficult conversation for her to hear, it was difficult for me to have, but I will be forever grateful for her standing right next to me. Sometimes the nurses radiate strength towards the families they take care of and I don't think they always realize that. It's truly a gift, and I appreciate Zoe doing that for us.
