Vianca volunteered to stand up the ATC unit needed to care for patients with confirmed COVID who needed transfusions, antibiotics, and chemo. She wanted to be on the frontlines to help patients, ease the burden on the inpatient areas, and bring needed encouragement to those hesitant or afraid of the pandemic. Every day there was something new to do or something new to learn. She was responsible for managing PPE, fit testing for staff, staffing, and coordinating with other departments to ensure the safety of the patients/staff and the operations of the area. Through her efforts and those of the team, the ATC was able to treat more than 200 positive or PUIs in the outpatient setting.
