Mal made me feel that I had worth and had something to offer in this life.
I was seeking treatments at Pine Rest and Mal was the first person who contacted me. From the very first time I talked to her on the phone, I could hear the kindness and empathy in her voice. Every time I talked with Mal on the phone prior to coming to Pine Rest, she would ask how I was doing, if I was safe, and what she could do for me. I went through two full rounds of TMS at Pine Rest, which is approximately 70 daily treatments, many of which were administered by Mal. She always made me feel so comfortable and focused on me the whole time I was there. I was not very talkative and cried a lot through the treatments at the beginning, but Mal just kept talking to me and encouraging me through this difficult time. Mal consistently reached out to help me when I was struggling at one of the most difficult times of my life.
I was having suicidal thoughts and wanted to give up when I started the treatments. Mal checked with me daily about this. She told me in between my daily treatments that I could call if I needed anything at all. Mal made me feel that I had worth and had something to offer in this life. She helped me through this time, and I feel more accepting of my mental health issues through all our conversations. Mal was very uplifting and told me she knew how much time and effort I was putting into treatment because I was driving three hours a day to do the treatments as well as still teaching part-time.
Today, I am doing better than I have in the last 20 years. TMS treatments have been very beneficial, but my daily interactions with Mal had a lasting impact on my progress. Mal is one of the most positive, caring, and compassionate people I have ever met. She has so much empathy and is gifted in making people feel understood as well as being quick to pick up on what an individual needs. Mal shares an unbelievable amount of love with every patient she meets.
